Aquatic Habitat Restoration: Controlling Eurasian Water Milfoil Growth with Biological Methods
Spring TA Grant Award: $1500
Project Summary:
Paradise Lake had 325 acres of Eurasian Watermilfoil (EWM), an invasive aquatic weed, treated it with the Euhrychiopsis Lecontei weevil in 1998 and experienced nine years of control. In 2007-2008 a resurgence of EWM occurred. The Association, cooperating with townships and waterfront owners, are striving to establish a Special Assessment District to ensure a long term biological solution is used instead of herbicide. They are hiring experts to advise them on controlling the reinfestation.
