Building Awareness, Community Capacity and Municipal Support for Oliphant Coastal Preservation
Spring Project Grant Award: $500
Spring TA Grant Award: $1500
Project Summary:
Friends of Oliphant Coastal Environments of Wiarton, Ontario are drawing attention to the need to reduce environmental impacts to rare fen, alvar and beach ecosystems in the Oliphant Community and adjacent Fishing Islands. The impacts are due to increased tourism, the spread of invasive plants, and uncontrolled vehicle access for recreation purposes. Funds will be used to allow involvement of all stakeholders and to help build the organization's capacity.
